Why should a new furnace be dried before using SiC elements?

Moisture can shorten SiC element life. Vapor and moisture may reduce service life by about 20% compared with dry air.

For a new furnace or an old furnace that has not worked for a long time, dry the furnace fully at low temperature before raising the temperature. This is especially important when the furnace lining may still contain moisture.
