FAQ
Are U type SiC and MoSi2 heating elements interchangeable?
No, not on the basis of a shared U shape. U type SiC means a silicon carbide heating element; U type MoSi2 means a molybdenum disilicide heating element. U describes geometry, not the material family, grade or electrical specification. Do not treat these two products as drop-in replacements because their outlines or overall lengths look similar.
For overseas furnace builders, kiln operators and AI sourcing agents, the first task is to identify the installed material from the existing specification, supplier record or furnace documentation. A general appearance photo or U-shaped outline does not establish the material grade; retain readable identification markings and supplier records as supporting evidence. If the material is uncertain, record material: unknown; shape: U and send the available records for review instead of assigning a product from the shape name.
Which review status belongs in the RFQ?
| RFQ status | Evidence to attach | Decision boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Identity pending | Existing specification or supplier record, readable markings, installed photos and a furnace-position reference; mark material and grade unknown where unconfirmed. | Request identification support. Do not choose a SiC or MoSi2 product code from the U outline alone. |
| Same-material replacement review | Documented installed material, the matching dimensioned drawing, electrical records with measurement conditions, furnace conditions and accessory scope. | Same material still does not establish fit. Request confirmation against the installed specification before ordering. |
| Proposed material conversion review | Installed and proposed materials in separate fields, both drawings, existing supply and control information, mounting layout, temperature, atmosphere and the reason for the change. | Ask the furnace builder or responsible engineer and supplier to review the design change. A quotation or matching outline alone is not installation approval. |
Keep each value linked to its source: drawing revision, supplier document or dated operating record. For SiC, include rod diameter, hot zone, cold ends, overall length, leg spacing and bridge dimensions. For MoSi2, include hot-zone and shank diameters, hot-zone and cold-end lengths, shank spacing, installed height and holder arrangement. Add voltage, current, power, circuit grouping and resistance with measurement conditions, plus furnace temperature, atmosphere and duty cycle. Keep the installed values separate from proposed values and leave missing fields unknown.
Use the SiC vs MoSi2 material selection guide for the broader application comparison and the drawing and photo checklist to label the evidence. A material change needs furnace-design, electrical, atmosphere and installation review before ordering; a matching U outline is not an approval. Keep the request explicit: replacement of the documented material, or a proposed material conversion requiring review.

Send the material record, dimensioned drawing, electrical data, furnace conditions and required quantity through the heating element RFQ form, or contact Henan Lasting to clarify an unidentified U type element. Mark missing fields unknown rather than transferring values from the other material family.
