U type MoSi2 elements are the common two-shank shape for many furnace layouts. W type elements use a multi-shank shape to deliver more power where furnace height is limited. Element shape, hot zone length, cold end length, shank diameter and leg spacing should match the furnace drawing or the old element.
MoSi2 element life depends strongly on hot-zone surface load and furnace atmosphere. The values below are general design references; confirm the final design against the real furnace condition.

Avoid continuous operation at 400-700℃: in this range MoSi2 can suffer strong low-temperature oxidation (pesting) and may powder.
For a replacement, send photos of the old element and terminals, the element dimensions and any voltage, power or resistance records. For a new furnace, send furnace type, chamber size, target and peak temperature, atmosphere and quantity so the technical team can review the specification.

Recommended hot-zone surface load is below 18 W/cm² at 1400℃, below 15 W/cm² at 1500℃, below 12 W/cm² at 1600℃, below 10 W/cm² at 1650℃ and below 8 W/cm² at 1700℃.
In the 400-700℃ range MoSi2 can suffer strong low-temperature oxidation, known as pesting, which may cause the element to powder, so continuous operation in this range should be avoided.
Provide furnace type, chamber size, target temperature, atmosphere, element shape (U or W), hot zone, cold end, shank diameter, leg spacing, voltage, power, resistance and quantity. Drawings or installed-element photos help confirm the shape.
