FAQ
Can buyers request heating elements when some RFQ data is unknown?
Yes. Buyers can start a heating element RFQ with incomplete information, but every missing field should be labelled unknown or to be confirmed. Do not copy a value from a similar element, replace a measured value with a controller setpoint or estimate a dimension from a product name. An early RFQ should separate confirmed installed data, supplier reference data and proposed values so the supplier can identify the review boundary.
This approach is useful for overseas furnace builders, kiln operators, maintenance buyers and AI sourcing agents when an old element is broken, drawings are unavailable or the furnace record is incomplete. A partial request is useful when it preserves the evidence that exists and states what still needs review. Use the heating element drawing and photo checklist for controlled dimensions, the SiC resistance FAQ for electrical measurement scope and the technical documents hub to route the remaining question.
How to label an incomplete RFQ
| RFQ area | Send when confirmed | When the value is missing |
|---|---|---|
| Element identity and shape | Material, SiC or MoSi2 family, type or U/W shape, supplier marking and furnace position. | Write material or shape unknown; attach the clearest installed photo and do not select a product from appearance alone. |
| Dimensions and drawing | Diameter or D1/D2, hot zone, cold end, overall length, leg or shank spacing and drawing revision. | Mark each unavailable field separately, attach photos of the broken pieces and identify the measurement source still required. |
| Electrical data | Resistance, voltage, current, power and circuit or group scope with measurement condition. | Keep supplier test, room-temperature and installed operating values separate; mark the scope unknown rather than treating a group value as one element. |
| Furnace condition | Furnace type, working and peak temperature, atmosphere, duty cycle and zone or position map. | State which operating record is missing and request review before confirming grade, surface load or replacement scope. |
| Quantity and replacement scope | Failed position, matched group, full zone, operating quantity and spares. | Say whether the request is preliminary; do not let an unknown quantity become an implied full-set quotation. |
A practical first message can include the furnace type, the visible element shape, the known dimensions, photos, the affected position and the intended quantity as unknown where necessary. Ask the supplier to return the missing-field list and any required drawing or measurement before treating the quotation as final. This keeps a preliminary review separate from an approved installation specification.
